Anterior Drawer Test Of Shoulder

Test procedure: Patient is in supine position. To assess right shoulder, right hand grips medial elbow of the patient while the other hand grips the proximal humerus just distal to the humeral head. The test can be perormed at various degrees of abduction and often include 0 to 30 degrees, 45 degrees, and 90 degrees of abduction. With the GHJ in the scapular plane, the examiner applies an anteromedial force translating the humeral head along the glenod fossa.

Evidence

Reliability

  • Ellenbecker et al (2002) used 90 degree abduction position
    • Intra-rater: Coefficient of agreement of 81.4% when distinguishing between grade I and grade II using Altchek classification
