Hip Internal Rotation Flexion Axial Compression Maneuver

Indication: To detect the presence of labral pathology

Procedure: Patient is supine. The examiner flexes and internally rotates the hip, then applies an axial compression force through the femur.

What constites a positive test: Provocation of pain is considered positive

Validity (Narvani et al 2003: 18 patients with hip pain. Reference standard was magnetic resonance arthrography)
