Function
Primary restraint to varus stress at the knee. The LCL also restrains excessie lateral rotation f the tibia on the femur. The LCL provides 69% of the stabilizing force against varus angulation at 25 degrees of knee flexion and 55% at 5 degrees knee flexion (Grood JBJS Am 70:88 1988).
